Fashion Photographer - Rachel Joseph

Biography:

Rachel Joseph was born in Manchester and  has earned a reputation as one of the most recognised fashion and celebrity lifestyle photographers in both the UK and abroad.

Rachel graduated fro Staffordshire University with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in photography bringing a dynamic, cutting edge to her field.

Rachel has an impressive portfolio of celebs including Dame Helen Mirren, Jerry Hall, Ray Winstone, Sir Ian McKellan, Michael Owen and Ruby Wax.

She has also been invloved with a number of exclusive shoots for shows such as Cold feet, Prime Suspect, Shameless, Bad Girls, Cutting It, Vincent, Gavin and Stacey, Cracker and many others. Rachel has also featured in many magazines and National newspapers as well as her appearance on Britain's Next Top Model which is how I discovered her.

This image is interesting in that the background is not monochrome but faded to enable the bright colours the actress is wearing to instantly draw the eye.  The composition is also interesting here in that it has almost been split in half with the model in the right half and the buildings on the left giving equal space to each without creating any symmetry.  The perspective is also interesting how the actress is in proportion to the buildings if not slightly bigger again to create the perception to the viewer and enable the actress to be the focal point of this composition.
I love the simplicity of these types of shots, I like how the shadow adds a depth of colour despite this being a monochrome image, I also like how parts of the clothing add texture to the composition.
I like the bright colours in this shot and how natural light has been used from a nearby window to light the shot and bring the eye to the focal point of the face.  Keeping the low light around the feet and legs also allows the eye to home straight into the focal point without distraction.

Hi
From these images I need to see you commenting are what they are as regards the analysis of colour shapes, patterns, textures, focal point and perspective as regards how the images are constructed.
Identify what it is of value that you are able to add to your own work.
